Steve Smith

Steve, from Gastonia, NC, is InSouth's President. He is a graduate of UNC Charlotte. While in school he also began his insurance career working in Allstate's Region Operations Center. When he graduated in 1991 he was hired by Nationwide to build and manage a captive insurance agency.

After spending nine years with the captive company, Steve began to recognize his client's need for independence and more choices. He left Nationwide in 2000 and began an independent agency in the Lake Norman area. Steve met another like-minded agency owner and they merged their agencies to form what is today InSouth Insurance.

His favorite part of the job is creating a lasting relationship with not only his clients, but his employees and the community as well. When he is not at the office Steve loves hunting, fishing, golfing and boating. He also enjoys being active in his church, but his favorite thing is spending time with his family.
